BLOOD IS THICKER

 

This book is about two teenagers who are on their high school stage, the two teenagers are Dercy and Hakeem. They have had a relationship for a long time, and they are so much in love, but their love seem to come to an end when hakeem and his family are moving out. the reason, well its that hakeem's father was discover with cancer, and now cancer has dissapear but the thing is that he is to weak and has no strength to work so each day they are having more and more difficulties with money. So his uncle offers his help and suggest them to move with him and that they will not have to pay rent, so all his famly think its a good option and they decided to move. Dercy and hakeem dont wanna be apart but they know its not possible to remain on a relationship on a long distance. hakeem does not want to leave because of his girlfriend and his best friend but he knows he cant abbandon his family when they most need him so he has to deal with it.

Chapter 2-4

When Hakeem moves to Detroit he breaks up with his girlfriend Darcy. this chapter we also meet Savon, Hakeem's cousin. Hakeem, and his cousin Savon are not the best cousin, they don't get along and they always end up having problems.  Hakeem thinks that Savon is some kind of gang. Savon's parents also think that something is going on with Savon. Hakeem wants to find out what is going on with Savon so he tries to talk with him, but Savon is always getting mad at Hakeem. 

CHAPTER 4-6

In this chapters Hakeem meets this new girl Anika, and he feels that he likes her more than Darcy, but feels bad because he thinks of the possibilities of Darcy dating another guy, just thinking of the possibility bother him a lot, so he just decide to not think of that. then later on the story he hears the news that there has been a store robbery and immediately thinks that it could maybe be his cousin Savon, since he did not came to sleep home the day of the incident and also because he found a lot of money in Savon shoe. Hakeem decides to investigate if it was him or not, on his investigation he found something that got him furious. his cousin had his diary and was open and that meant he has read it, he was more that mad he was ready to confront him no matter what.
  
CHAPTER 6-8
on this two chapter there is alot of interesting things, first Hakeem and Savon start arguing because of what Savon did, he read Hakeem's diary and that made him furious. they got into a fight and Savon's dad cough them, that caused Savon to get grounded. further more Hakeem thinks that Savon and his friends are responsible for the robbery that occur at the store near their neighborhood because he found money in Savon's shoes and he didn't know were the money is coming from since he didn't worked, so he starts to investigates, Savon was ground it but he still didn't care and went out, Hakeem decided to follow him to found out if he was the one who rob the store and he found out that he was a rapper and that was where the money was coming from.

CHAPTER 8-10
on these chapters Savon tells Hakeem that he told his dad that he was getting the money by playing in parties, his dad did not agree with that and told him that he needed to get a real job, but Savon didn't listen and kept on doing it. Savon also told Hakeem that he had problem with his dad, they really don't get along, they don't have good communication and maybe that's why he acts the way he acts.  Hakeem let his uncle know that Savon was not the criminal they think he is, he is a good guy, its only that people have a bad view of him. Savon though that his dad hated him because he never has had his support on what Savon did, that the only thing he cared was his business, and his dad told him that it was not true, that he loved him and care for him and the reason he was being thought on him was because he knew teens that did the same thing as he and one ended up in jail and the other got shot and he didn't want that to happen to Savon. at the end they both made an agreement, Savon could keep playing his music but he had to work on the store they own three days a week and he will go see him perform.  and at the end Hakeem receives a call from Tarah and lets him know that Darcy's grandmother died and he went to see Darcy to support him and then when he went back with his family he found out that Anika was responsible for the Store Robbery and that she had to leave.

The Boys From Little Mexico: A Season Chasing The American Dream

What comes to your mind when hear the words American Dream? Most people would think that its about living in the U.S.A and getting the residence to live legally on this Wonderful place. This time is not the case, on this book it is about a group of latin teenagers that do live on the United States, Oregon to be Specific, on Woodburn High School and their dream, Win Soccer Championship!!! So basically this book its about Soccer, nothing else but soccer. Most high schools and including WCCHS dont take soccer so serieously, all they care is American Football, which I understand since thats their sport. and this books its going to be about this group of teenagers who know how to play soccer, who have the skills and who have the passion to play the game.

It all began on Oregon, on Woodburn High School, the Los perros as they are called started their season undefeated, they went to the semifinals and all they wanted was to win the championship, this time they knew for sure that they could  do it, they had a really good team. Semifinal game, it all started fine when they were winning 1-0 at minute 89, only one minute left to play qand they will had the chance to go on the final to play for the championship but then there was a foul, free kick had to be taken, the free kick shoter takes two step back, looks at the goalie and his position and SHOTS!!!, oh surprised, they opponent team had scored from free kick. The goalie, Carlos was so dissapointed that he did not stop that shot, he could of swore that he did touch the ball but it had so much power it slide and it went back into the net tien the game. Carlos knew he could of stop that shot and prevented over time.

Having the other team tied the game made the game to go into extra time and since neither team score on those extra 30 minutes then that force for them to go to penalty kicks,  5 players had to take a Pk and to continued they had to score score and scored, the one who misses go home, on the first five penalties both teams chose correctly, they five score, then Octavio one of the best player was about to take the pk, and oh surprised again he MISSED IT!!. then the other team takes the shot and makes it, leaving woodburn one step away from the final.

 The los perros team were so frustrated, they were also so dissaponted ans ashamed that they couldnt make it to the final, they felt bad for their fans who were their in the crowd cheering them, they had so much hope on them and they didnt do it. Carlos the goalie and Octavio two of their best players felt guilty, they knew that it was because of them that they didnt won the game, everyone was trying to cheer them up but it was worthless, they couldnt think of anything else but the game and how they let the opportunity slice away.

Next on the story coach Furningham starts thinking what can he do to finally make it to the finals next season, he starts thinking weather he should start taking spanish lessons so he can communicated better with his players, which most of them are hispanic. he alreaday knew some spanish but not enough to be able to understand everything his players want. Another thing that happen is that Carlos, the goalie after weeks thinking about the situation they went trough, that having the adventage of 1-0 then losing that advantage and losing on penalities, after weeks he finally realise that it was mean to be, that things dont just happen, it all has a reason. and then octavio though the same thing then they all just start laughing about it and thinking that there is always a secong chance, they just had to be happy that they made it to the semifinals and that it was a huge accomplishment.
